100 Days of Clay Project

On day 80 I revised and analyzed the 365 days project and asked myself is this helping me achieve what I want to achieve? Am I growing as an artist from this project? Am I proud of what I am creating? Is this pushing my creativity? Upon reflection while I had made some great work habits pushing through and making a finished piece every day for the last 80 days, I felt that it was taking away from the work I really wanted to make. Through this challenge I learned alot of things about myself and my practice and what is fundamentally important for me and the work I make. I realized 365 days of small creations was not taking me in the direction I wanted to go in and decided to round out the project at 100. Now just to get through 100 days of glazing!

Updates on this project to come.

365 Days of Clay Project 2021

On the first day of 2021 I was inspired to challenge myself to make one small clay work every day for the entire year. I was inspired by another ceramicist friend (@emilydolphinart) who was starting a similar challenge with 365 days of skate. I have a few goals in mind at the beginning of this challenge, I want to create a better more consistent making routine, to strengthen my creativity, to build a large body of work and to push myself as an artist.

As I write this on Day 71, this project has already challenged and surprised me in many unexpected ways. This project has been removing mental barriers, highlighting processes that can be streamlined whilst also testing patience, emphasizing the importance of time management and forcing me to be vulnerable sharing work I may usually consider ‘unfinished’.
